Welcome to Hugh X. Lewis dot com! In 1963, Hugh X. Lewis packed up the family and made the move from Eastern Kentucky to Nashville to enter the world of country music on a full time basis. He had a No. 1 hit in his pocket, and soon there were others for other performers and a few hits for himself as well. A recording contract followed, appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, a night club, and a syndicated television show, "The Hugh X. Lewis Country Club". After "retiring" from active performing in 1984, Hugh turned his attention to Christian Country music, and to writing poetry and inspirational verse. His recitations are heard on various gospel radio stations around the country, and he continues to make personal appearances at churches throughout the region.
